The Henry Samueli School of Engineering

The UCI Samueli School of Engineering inspires ingenuity, creates opportunities and unleashes innovation to solve society’s most pressing problems. From medical breakthroughs to environmental sustainability to transformative communications technologies, our engineers are taking their research from campus labs into the real world and beyond. We bring together faculty and students from six academic departments – biomedical, chemical and biomolecular, civil and environmental, electrical and computer science, materials science and engineering, and mechanical and aerospace – to advance solutions-oriented engineering.

As one of the nation’s top-25 public engineering schools, we create a globally relevant engineering education experience for our students, explore new frontiers through research and build an ecosystem of champion partners to help meet the grand challenges of our day.

The COVID-19 crisis has affected the way we all learn, work, and live. Today, you have the opportunity to help further our impact and to support our communities who need it most—the students who are carrying on from a distance, and our faculty who are still conducting ground-breaking research with fewer resources. Together, we will overcome these obstacles and promote an environment where our engineers have the tools they need to build a better world.

Student Experiential Learning

The Samueli School’s emphasis on experiential learning is attracting high-achieving students who want more than a classroom experience. By coupling engineering science-based training with a tactical understanding of how to solve real problems, we produce better engineers. That is why new programs, spaces and opportunities devoted to student projects are integral to our continued success. The need is even greater now that we are in an environment of distance learning.

Student Scholarship

The cost to attend a University of California institution has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, and UCI students and their families are paying more than three times as much for tuition as their 1999 counterparts. Many students are also facing additional and unexpected financial hardships due to the current economic uncertainty. By supporting student scholarships, you will help offset the high costs of a university education, help recruit and support the best and the brightest students, and advance the American dream for the next generation. Your gift ensures the tradition of excellence known to all Anteater engineers and will help us continue to produce leaders and innovators of the future.

Dean’s Excellence Fund

As devastating as the coronavirus has been worldwide, the pandemic has ignited a can-do spirit in the Samueli School of Engineering. Faculty, graduate students and staff researchers are rolling up their sleeves, working in labs, homes and garages in an effort to help. From diagnostic strips to makeshift ventilators to antibody detection techniques, engineers are collaborating across disciplines to create devices and treatments that they hope can mitigate the crisis.

We invite you to invest in our game-changing efforts by supporting the Dean’s strategic priorities. Together, we will create a limitless future where our engineers lead the changes that build a better world.
