UCI Asian American Studies

Asian American Studies explores the intersections of race, gender, citizenship, ethnicity, and dis/ability within Asian American histories, experience, and cultural production. UCI is a federally recognized Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) student serving institution, and is located in Orange County, home to the third-largest AAPI population in the country!

The Department of Asian American Studies at UC Irvine is proud to offer undergraduates the 4+1 program: a unique opportunity to complete a B.A. and M.A. in Asian American Studies at UCI in only five years, and the only combined B.A./M.A. program in the country.

However, when students are in their final year of study in 4+1 as master’s candidates, they’re no longer eligible for much of the financial support they received as undergraduates, even as their commitment to Asian American communities and research grows deeper and stronger.

Our Giving Day mission is to fund five $1,000 awards to lessen the financial burden for our students in the final year of the 4+1 B.A./M.A. program at UCI.

Help us provide our students with the means to attain master’s degrees and reach their full academic and professional potential!
