DSC is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion at UCI; including accessible and inclusive learning that utilizes principles of Universal Design and Diversity which benefit all student populations.

Message

At UCI, providing a culture of inclusion and equal opportunity for students with disabilities is a campus wide responsibility and commitment. UCI demonstrates its core values of individual growth, development, civility, and diversity by recognizing students with disabilities as an important part of its student body. The UCI Disability Services Center strives to create a culture of inclusion and access to all UCI programs, services, activities, events, and facilities for students with disabilities. The DSC promotes increased awareness of disability, and provides reasonable accommodations in coordination with faculty and staff, and related disability services. The donations given by our generous donors provide us with ways to go beyond the annual DSC budget and to continue to be leaders in the area of inclusivity for all.

Opportunity

This COVID-19 impacted world has put a spotlight on the challenges exacerbated by the remote learning environment that students with disabilities already experience in higher education. The silver linings from this pandemic are the increased awareness of the need for more accessible and equitable learning experiences as well as the technological advances that have been accelerated due to the need. Your gift of support to the Disability Services Center will help us to provide the newest technologies to support a remote environment, fund equipment and assistive devices for students, and help to fund signature programs that raise awareness, challenge personal biases, promote diversity, celebrate academic achievement. Donor funds help us to eliminate, eradicate, and obliterate stereotypical thinking about disability among students, faculty, and staff.
