First-Generation Student Success

The transition from high school to college can be challenging for anyone, but it's especially difficult for first-generation students. Many first generation students struggle to navigate the complexities of a college campus and face more barriers when adjusting to their new surroundings. At UCI, we are committed to providing opportunities and resources to help first-generation students thrive.

While there are many areas of campus that support our first generation students, today we ask for your support of two areas that directly provide resources for these deserving students: UCI Student Support Services and the UCI Chancellors Club.

Student Support Services

Housed in the Division of Undergraduate Education, Student Support Services gives students like her the resources they need to get the most from their college experience. The Student Support Services office helps first-generation students successfully transition to UCI by providing drop-in counseling and advising; weekly workshops on academic and social opportunities; scholarships; and summer academic programs for incoming students.
