This fall, 120 nursing students will begin their first clinical rotations.
Before they care for a single patient, they must first cover required out-of-pocket costs: scrubs, a lab coat, a stethoscope, testing fees and transportation to clinical sites.
For many of our students, $350 is not a small expense. Many are first-generation college students balancing tuition, rent and family responsibilities. These required costs can add real financial pressure at a critical moment in their training.
On Giving Day, you can remove that barrier.
- $50 provides a lab coat or stethoscope
- $100 provides scrubs
- $200 fully equips one student with a stethoscope, lab coat and scrubs
- $400 fully equips two students
- $1,000 fully equips five students
If we raise $35,000, we can ensure every student walks into clinicals prepared and confident.
When you give to the Nursing Science - Fund for Excellence, you are not just purchasing equipment. You are helping a future nurse step into a hospital room ready to listen, advocate and care for someone on one of the hardest days of their life.

More Ways to Make an Impact
If you prefer to support the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing on Giving Day in a different way, we invite you to consider these additional areas of impact:
Ellen Lewis Nursing Leadership Endowed Award: Gifts to this endowed fund expand our ability to provide annual awards to undergraduate students, recognizing their leadership qualities and accomplishments while easing financial burdens so they can focus more fully on their studies.
KC Hernandez McCloy Memorial Scholarship Endowment: Gifts to this endowed fund support aspiring nursing students, reflecting KC's desire to help others achieve their goals. Your generous donation can make a meaningful impact and continue KC's inspiring legacy.
Center for Excellence in Nursing Education: CENE supports the entire nursing community - including faculty, clinical instructors and preceptors - through advanced professional development and immersive simulation. Your support provides the "cutting-edge" training that turns today’s nursing students into tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.
Center for Nursing Philosophy: Gifts to this fund support the center's mission for increased nursing philosophy scholarship development and dissemination, as well as wider engagement with the local, national, and international philosophy community to identify new foci for inquiry and advancement.
