Black Alumni Chapter

Welcome to the UC Irvine Black Alumni Chapter!

WHO WE ARE: “Black Excellence - Yesterday, Today and Forever.” This theme reflects the type of students and alumni that have passed through the doors of UCI and the quality of current students.

WHY SUPPORT CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIPS: Many of us received scholarships during our time as students at UCI, so we know from personal experience that financial support for the costs associated with education can be life-changing. Not only do scholarships offer resources that empower and allow students to fully immerse themselves in the UCI experience, but they also create a sense of community in which our fellow Anteaters feel welcomed and supported as they navigate through their educational journeys.

Hear what our 2025 scholarship recipient, Jazzlyn Shields had to say!

Quote by 2025 Black Alumni Chapter Scholarship Recipient Jazzlyn Shields: One of the most meaningful parts of receiving this support is the sense of connection it fosters. It's incredible to know that alumni who once walked the same paths, sat in the same classrooms, and faced their own challenges have chosen to reach back and lift up those following behind them. That kind of legacy is something I aspire to carry forward in my own life.

Over the past several years, our chapter has raised over $30,000 and awarded 26 Anteaters with scholarships. In 2025 alone, we had 6 scholarship recipients! For 2026, we ask you all to help us award even more students. Giving Day 2026 is an opportunity for us to donate money on behalf of the UC Irvine Black Alumni Chapter. One hundred percent of the funds raised on this day go toward scholarships for our students.
