The Department of Chicano/Latino Studies at UC Irvine is nationally recognized for its groundbreaking research and commitment to student success. Designed with flexibility in mind, the Chicano/Latino Studies major allows students to begin at different stages of their undergraduate journey and to combine the major with other fields of study across campus. Our graduates go on to pursue law school, medical school, advanced graduate programs and impactful careers in public service. Many are first-generation college students, the first in their families to earn a university degree, and they carry forward a powerful legacy of perseverance and achievement.
Our mission this Giving Day is to raise $2,500 to support 5 Chicano/Latino Studies students with awards of up to $500 each to support their post-graduation ambitions. Together, we can ensure that UC Irvine is only the first stop in their journey. Let's help launch them into meaningful and transformative careers!
We proudly offer a B.A. in Chicano/Latino Studies, an undergraduate minor and dynamic graduate programs, including our Graduate Emphasis, UC-CUBA (which promotes scholarly study of Cuba by U.S.-based scholars) and the Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community (PRIME-LC), which prepares future physicians to serve Latino communities with culturally responsive care.
Our students will become the next generation of immigration lawyers, teachers, journalists, psychologists, doctors, nurses, social workers, political leaders and more. We equip UC Irvine students with a deep understanding of the histories, cultures and ethnic diversity of the Chicano/Latino diaspora, and with the tools to better understand and serve these communities.
Your contribution this Giving Day will ensure that nothing stands in the way of our students’ aspirations. Be part of their bright future – and help us open doors for the next generation of leaders.
