Mental health is foundational to student success. The UC Irvine Counseling Center provides culturally responsive clinical care, outreach programs and training opportunities that empower students to navigate the stresses of university life. Through therapy services and innovative campus engagement, we elevate the student experience, reduce mental health stigma and build pathways to lifelong well-being.
Together, we can build a campus culture where seeking support is a sign of strength and every student has the opportunity to succeed. Your donation enables us to engage students in creative ways across campus – empowering, educating and breaking down stigma.
This year, the UC Irvine Counseling Center is committed to expanding our outreach and prevention efforts to better serve the evolving needs of our campus community. We aim to:
- Reach a broader campus audience through tailored programming designed to meet the unique needs of our diverse student communities.
- Expand digital outreach initiatives, including the creation of educational videos, online resources and psychoeducational content that increases access to mental health support.
- Grow our signature campus-wide events while enhancing accessibility to ensure all students can participate fully, specifically our National Depression Screening Day, Art of Healing Showcase and Suicide Prevention Initiatives on campus.
- Sustain and grow our Peer Education programs that reduce stigma and promote help-seeking behaviors
- Cover essential operational costs, including room rental fees that allow us to host impactful programs and events.
Every year our Outreach, Prevention and Education programs reach over 23,000 students, staff, faculty and community members! Find more details below about how your contribution can make a lasting impact on the mental health and wellbeing of our UC Irvine student population and our overall campus community!
National Depression Screening Day
Early detection saves lives. In one day, over 110 students received free mental health screenings, helping identify early signs of distress and connect to support before challenges escalate.
Mental Health Resource Fair
Access changes outcomes. Our annual fair connects 320+ students with campus and community partners offering culturally responsive mental health resources — including specialized support for our diverse student communities.
Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Programs
Initiatives like the Green Bandana Campaign and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training, we equip students, staff and faculty with the tools to recognize warning signs, intervene early and potentially save lives. When every member of our community can contribute, we can build a strong culture of care and support for all Anteaters.
Art of Healing Showcase
Expression reduces stigma. This student-centered exhibition empowers participants to share visual art reflecting their mental health journeys — fostering connection, resilience and an open dialogue across campus.
Counseling Center Peer Education programs
Through peer-led outreach and education, students equip one another with tools, resources and support to promote mental health and well-being across campus. Last year, our peer education programs reached over 1,700+ students on campus!
Together, we can create a campus where every student feels seen, supported and empowered to succeed. The UC Irvine Counseling Center is more than a resource — it’s a lifeline. For more information, please go to: https://counseling.uci.edu/
