The Center for Autism & Neurodevelopment Disorders provides help and hope to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families living with an autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental disorders through excellent and innovative clinical care, education & training, research, and community engagement.
Two years out of high school, 80 percent of young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are unemployed or underemployed. In many cases, they have not developed the life skills for independence. But these skills can be taught and mastered.
Your gift today will help to fund much-needed training and skill development to help another high school student—and his or her family—make the transition to independence and adulthood.
When you give, more 13- to 17-year-olds are able to learn independent living skills such as self-advocacy, hygiene and social communication. Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 can participate in training that includes resume building, job search and interview skills—then apply what they learn in a four-week internship that builds confidence and may even open doors to fulfilling employment.
Your support will also provide services to familiarize the family members and guardians who love these people with related issues such as legal guardianship, financial management, housing and personal safety.
