50 Gifts to unlock $50,000: Gavin Herbert Eye Institute Research Challenge
The GHEI Research Challenge is complete! Thank you to all who helped unlock a $50,000 gift from our generous benefactor! Due to the support and meeting the challenge of the first 50 gifts, the benefactor has increased their gift by $150,000! This brings our Giving Day total to $203,870 from 54 gifts to support eye research at GHEI. Thank you for making  UCI Giving Day a success. 

From clinical research that explores late-stage macular degeneration therapies to our next bold move of establishing a novel retinal research program—Gavin Herbert Eye Institute researchers are 100 percent focused on finding treatments for diseases and vision disorders. What we learn could preserve or restore sight for someone who matters to you.

We are creative in our approach to discovery, posing questions through a lens that integrates structural biology, genetics, biochemistry, pharmacology and basic functional biology. This interdisciplinary lens produces novel insights into the mysteries of vision, demonstrating that the whole is indeed greater than the sum of the parts.
