UCI Retirees Association

The UCI Retirees Association (UCIRA) represents you by working on both the UCI campus and on UC system-wide committees. Our participation on the Council of UC Retirees Associations (CUCRA) allows us to interact with the UC Office of the President regarding health insurance and other retirement benefits and with the Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) regarding the type and quality of services provided to retirees.

We collaborate with our Center for Emeriti & Retirees (CER) to provide a spectrum of activities such as lectures, special access to performances, cooking classes, wellness events, bus tours, and Walks/Hikes/Bike Rides.

Our goal for Giving Day 2019 is to raise money to support our two UCIRA ‘Legacy Scholarships’ for new students. Each scholarship is in the amount of $3,000. There will be one award for a new freshmen and one award for a new transfer. These scholarships are the first created specifically for students with a family member who meets one of the following criteria: UCI retiree, UCI alumni, or current UCI staff member. Additional eligibility requirements include:

  • New freshman or new transfer student entering in fall quarter 2019
  • Full-time enrollment for 2019-2020 academic year
  • Minimum 3.3 GPA as a high school of transfer student
  • Preference given to students with financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships

Our UCIRA President Jill Halvaks, states, “Some of you are Lifetime Retirees Association members (as am I).  My personal challenge is for each of us to recommit to the Retirees Association by making a donation. Many of us have benefitted for years from just one membership fee. Let’s do this!
