Classes before the class of 2019 have established a long tradition of giving back through their Senior Class Gift by raising money for scholarships, beautification projects, and technological advances. This year, we are continuing the legacy by fundraising to provide meal plan sponsorships for students in high need, and we ask you to help us meet our goal of raising $25,000 to give 20 meal plan sponsorships.
We chose this as our final gift to the university because a recent UCI student experience survey showed that 40 percent of undergraduate students are “food insecure.” Food Insecurity is defined by the USDA as “Uncertain or limited ability to get adequate food due to lack of financial resources” and for 40% of our student body to experience that is alarming. Together, we hope to award 20 meal plan sponsorships and do our part to make food insecurity at UC Irvine a thing of the past for future Anteaters. If we can raise more, we could sponsor even more meal plans – what a great legacy for us to leave behind!
