UCI Giving Day 2023

On Giving Day we seek to raise $30,000 for UCI Humanities students to keep their time at UCI what it should be—an opening of their minds and their life opportunities after graduation. Your contribution will support the Dean’s Excellence Fund, which allows the Dean to address the School’s most urgent needs. The Dean’s Excellence Fund is primarily allocated to student awards.

This year, we are focusing on expanding the Global Learning Initiative. You can help students experience the life-changing gift of international study. This is particularly important for students who have never travelled internationally and can only have this experience with the help of our community. The Global Learning Initiative allows Humanities students to conduct international summer research and complete their language study in an immersive, in-country summer language learning program. A ten-week immersive summer language program is equivalent to one year of in-classroom, on campus language class.

Many of our students have never had the experience of studying in a completely different culture, and some of them have never traveled outside of California, which led them to believe studying abroad is not an option for them.
