Thanks to the support of loyal friends like you, scientists at the UCI Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center are leading the way in developing pioneering breakthroughs, lifesaving clinical trials and innovative technologies. Our work is unlocking the potential of cell and gene therapies to treat and cure diseases and disorders to make lives better for millions of people worldwide.

Our Seed Grant Program is a vital resource to scientists at the early stages of innovative research. These competitive grants provide modest awards ranging from $25,000-$35,000 that allow our scientists to initiate bold pilot projects that pave the way for long-term successes. Whether focused on basic or translational research, recipients of our seed grants have the opportunity to explore new frontiers of knowledge in a supportive, collaborative environment that fosters innovation and discovery.

Since its inception in 2014, the impact of the Seed Grant Program has been significant with over $500,000 in grants awarded to 20 researchers. Research findings catalyzed by the seed funds have garnered almost $7 million in additional extramural funding. That is an incredible 33% return on investment!
