The Henry Samueli School of Engineering

The UCI Henry Samueli School of Engineering inspires ingenuity, creates opportunities, and unleashes innovation to solve society’s most pressing problems. We are proud to bring together students, faculty, alumni, and industries from six academic departments – biomedical, chemical and biomolecular, civil and environmental, electrical and computer science, materials science and engineering, and mechanical and aerospace – to advance solutions-oriented engineering.

As designers and builders of the modern world, engineers have a responsibility to address the most important global grand challenges facing society. The solutions will need to cross disciplinary lines and require collaborative efforts among engineers, physical and social scientists, health professionals, businesses, and policymakers.

At the UCI Samueli School of Engineering, we call this Engineering Plus, or simply “e+.” The interpretation of this inclusive concept is that although engineering is at the center of these big, impactful research questions, we must go beyond historical, disciplinary boundaries and adopt a deeply collaborative approach.

We have formalized the e+ notion in our strategic plan and position the school as a leader in defining what a highly connected, innovative, inclusive, and forward-thinking engineering program could look like. It is intended to be a dynamic, living document that helps guide decisions and resource allocations, and most importantly, inspires our community and stakeholders.

Today, you can join us with one of our dedicated partners, Engineering Alumni Society (EAS), as we embrace the e+ approach to Educational Journeys, Collaborative Research, and Meaningful Partnerships. EAS has been working alongside the School in fostering lifelong relationship between the Samueli School of Engineering and its alumni to advance relationships between engineers, industries, faculty, and students. It serves to implement programs that embody the spirit and excellence of the School and alumni and at the same time, support the educational and career development of current engineering students.

We hope you can support our mission and fund solutions that directly address social issues. Private contributions are critical to the school’s success and we rely on the support and involvement of our community, alumni, and friends to fulfill our mission. You can help further the impact we are having in the school and to support our mission and our people by:

Student Support

Help us provide a world-class educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students that produces creative, diverse, socially engaged, and technically strong professional engineers and scholars.

Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity of thought requires a diversity of backgrounds. Help us continue to invest in efforts to increase the diversity of our faculty, staff, and students to cultivate a community of scholars that look more like our surrounding communities.

Dean’s Excellence Fund

Our ambition is that the Samueli School of Engineering will become one of the preeminent institutions in the world dedicated to the creation of knowledge that protects and enhances the health of our planet and its people. But that requires that the dean has the ability to invest in and seed new initiatives and projects.

Join the School to support the idea of impact, where UCI’s Samueli School of Engineering develops technological solutions that enhance the human experience, i.e., that make us healthier, more productive, more creative, more equal, and more connected.
