The UCI Health Gender Diversity Program is Orange County’s only interdisciplinary healthcare program devoted exclusively to providing care for transgender and gender diverse young people and adults. Our services include:  

• Patient and family counseling
• Puberty suppression
• Gender-affirming hormone therapy
• Sexual health, education, and HIV prevention 
• Specialty referrals
• Community connections and support
• Provider and trainee education
• School and community engagement

The clinical services provided by our program are geared for transgender identified young people. Our program’s primary advocacy focuses on education for healthcare professionals, school personnel working with transgender and gender-expansive youth, and transgender identified individuals along with their loved ones. We are dedicated to providing excellent gender affirming care for our patients and ensuring they exist authentically as themselves in their community. 

The overarching goal of the Gender Diversity Program’s educational advocacy is to address consistent denial of human, civil and constitutional rights of transgender individuals by closing the gap of knowledge surrounding the transgender community. Our program provides community educational lectures that present research-based information for transgender people and their families. Since the program's inception in 2016, we have expanded LGBTQ provider and trainee education beyond the UCI Health system through community outreach and engagement. These efforts have allowed us to extend our advocacy for the transgender community well beyond our own clinical space.
