VISION. To a scientist, the concept encapsulates a process that gives light, shape, and color to the world around us. To a strategist, it marks a goal, a plan of action toward an aspirational future.
As both scientists and strategists in the UC Irvine School of Social Sciences, these meanings merge in our bold vision for a more brilliant future for the state of California, the country, and our interconnected, rapidly changing world. A future that gives structure to scientific breakthroughs that may one day halt brain disease and communication disorders. A future that celebrates and supports the complex human diversity of our boundaryless planet. A future that sheds light on emerging conflicts affecting citizens around the globe in hopes of bringing about peaceful exchange.
To get there, we need your help.
The School of Social Sciences is the largest academic unit on the Irvine campus in terms of enrollment; indeed, more than 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students call the social sciences home. The fact that they got into our great university often belies the difficult path many forged to get here - one intertwined with pressing issues like access to healthcare, affordable housing, adequate income, equal education. For many of our students, scholarships and fellowships offer a critical financial lifeline to a degree, an opportunity to turn their dream of a college education into a reality.
This year, we're asking for your help supporting these incredible students. With more than 25% of all UCI graduates leaving campus with a degree from the social sciences, your gift – no matter the size - creates momentum for change that goes beyond the borders of campus, into the local community and out into the world.
Help us open more doors to infinite possibilities by supporting our scholarship, fellowship and research funds for undergraduates and graduate students in social sciences.
Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards
Donations to this fund help offset tuition and cost of living fees for social sciences undergrads pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Additionally, funds support opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in programs such as study abroad, UCDC, and more.
Graduate Fellowship Fund
Gifts made to this fund recognize and promote graduate student achievement and success in the School of Social Sciences
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) and
Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)
This innovative program helps undergrads find research and creative on-campus opportunities with UCI faculty, or off-campus opportunities with industrial partners, national labs, and other universities. Within UROP, we’re also raising money for the Summer Undergraduate Research Program, a unique fellowship program that supports students continuing an intensive, faculty-mentored research experience over the summer. Your gift today to UROP and/or SURP will be specifically earmarked for social sciences undergraduates.
