UCI Giving Day 2023

The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI) moved into our new flagship location on the UC Irvine campus in October 2022. Located at the corner of Michael Drake Drive and California Avenue, our institute is the gateway to the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. Together with the college, these state-of-the-art spaces will encourage whole-person care, interprofessional education and collaboration, groundbreaking research and innovation across health disciplines to revolutionize the future of healthcare for generations to come. In our new Irvine location, we usher in a new chapter for the SSIHI mission to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health to discover, teach, heal and serve.

TEACH the principles and tools of whole-person care to future healthcare providers

When you support Orange County’s only academic integrative health institute, you help to train incoming and seasoned healthcare professionals on the philosophies of whole-person care. For example, the Culinary Medicine Program brings first- and second-year medical students into the kitchen to teach them hands-on practical cooking skills and basic nutritional guidelines. They will transfer this knowledge from the kitchen to the clinic care, teaming with their patients to improve their health and to prevent diseases. Your donation makes it possible to introduce more students and providers to programs like Culinary Medicine.

HEAL and prevent disease with individualized, evidence-based treatment plans

If you have experienced care at the SSIHI, you know the benefits of combining the best of conventional medicine with the most effective integrative treatments. The SSIHI serves patients at eight clinical sites across Orange County, including UCI Medical Center. In recent years, the medical center expanded integrative inpatient services to include acupuncture for labor pain and post-delivery care, and tai chi group visits for adult and adolescent neuropsychiatry patients. Your gift today can help make team-based integrative care accessible to more patients across UCI Health and Orange County.
