Woman's Basketball History of Success
In 2024-25, the Anteaters recorded their fourth-straight 20-win season. Four of those victories came against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Several milestones were reached as head coach Tamara Inoue broke the school record in all-time wins, Nikki Tom became the program’s career steals leader and Déja Lee joined the 1,000-point club. As a team, UC Irvine ranked among the best in the nation in field goal percentage defense (5th) and scoring defense (10th).
UC Irvine won the 2024 Big West Championship and earned a No. 13 seed in their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1995. Déja Lee made history as the program’s first Big West Player of the Year. Diaba Konate was also named the conference’s Best Defensive Player, while Moulayna Johnson Sidi Baba was recognized as the Newcomer of the Year.
In 2022-23, UC Irvine won the first Big West regular-season title in program history. The ‘Eaters received an automatic bid to the WNIT for the second year in a row, and earned their first postseason victory, defeating San Diego State in the opening round. They finished the campaign with a school-record 25 wins.
