Today is an exciting opportunity for Anteaters to celebrate our winning traditions and invest in our future. For over 50 years, UC Irvine student-athletes have proudly represented their university. Our Anteater student-athletes have won 28 National Championships and 133 Conference Championships, and consist of 599 All-American honorees, 73 Olympic participants and over 4,000 Scholar-Athletes. As we strive to build upon these accomplishments, it is our goal to elevate UC Irvine Athletics to further national prominence.
The 2023-24 season was the most successful year in department history with seven teams making NCAA appearances. UC Irvine was fourth in the nation in the LEARFIELD Director's Cup D-IAAA (non-football) final standings which highlights the most successful athletic departments in the country based on NCAA Championship success.
In Paris last summer, UC Irvine was one of 49 schools to win two or more medals at the 2024 Games and one of only two (Loyola Chicago) Division I schools that doesn't sponsor football in that group. UCI was the only Big West school to win gold with former men’s volleyball player Kevin Tillie winning his second consecutive gold medal with France. Men’s volleyball player David Smith, who was competing in his fourth Olympic Games, won a Bronze with the United States. Tara Prentice became the first women’s water polo to become an Olympian.
