Support the Anteater Band on UC Irvine Giving Day!
Dear Friends, Alumni & Fans of the Anteater Band,
Thank you for your continued support of the Anteater Band throughout the year. Our volunteer student band members take time out of their busy academic schedules to participate in UC Irvine’s sporting events. Students need to borrow instruments for most of their musical careers and your contributions will go towards instrument upkeep and team meals which are very much appreciated. Thank you again.
We look forward to celebrating the Anteater Band’s 50th anniversary with UC Irvine Athletics. Here is a little bit of history about the band’s association with athletics.
The Anteater Band as we know it today is believed to have evolved from a group that was formed in the 1975-76 school year by UC Irvine students Scott Fier and Alan Niizawa. During the summer of 1975, Roy Englebrecht, the sports information director wanted a permanent band to play at the basketball games, rather than student organized clubs. A deal was worked out with the dean of fine arts for students to get two credits through the drama department.
Your generosity and support mean the world to us as we kick off the celebration of the Anteater Band’s 50th anniversary.
Go 'Eaters!
Eric Sanchez
Anteater Band Director
