Through the Pre-Pregnancy Whole-Person Care program at the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, our mission is to provide comprehensive pre-conception care through an integrative approach that combines naturopathic medicine, nutrition counseling, mindfulness and other supportive services. By offering integrative and personalized care, we aim to enhance conception success and improve long-term health outcomes for families.
The first phase of the program was completed in 2024, serving 10 women and their partners to explore how whole-person care may support conception and healthy pregnancies. Participants engaged in healthy cooking classes, mindfulness workshops and naturopathic medicine consultations to enhance pre-pregnancy planning.
Thanks to the generosity of the Theresa and Richard Beauchamp Family, participants in the first phase of our pilot program received free care, with no insurance billing required. Through this pilot program, we gathered initial data to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of this whole-person care model. Ultimately, we aim to expand the program’s reach, contribute to the evidence base for integrative pre-conception care, and serve a broader, more diverse population.
Due to unprecedented interest, we aim to increase access for additional participants and underserved populations in 2025. Donations during Giving Day will support the second phase of the pilot program, which will include health and wellness coaching, acupuncture, 1:1 consultations with a dietitian, and a fitness class series.
Your gift will expand access to integrative, whole-person care and provide critical resources for people wishing to support healthy conception and positive health for their families.
Through the generosity of our UC Irvine Giving Day donors, we hope to raise $25,000. Our goal is to beat the previous year’s record, as your gifts will foster participants the opportunity for whole-person care. By implementing an integrative approach, we strive to optimize conception success and promote sustained health outcomes for families.
