Our Mission & History
The UC Irvine Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center provides a wide range of education and advocacy services supporting intersectional identity development. We foster community, wellness, an open and inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex, transgender, queer, asexual, ally, and questioning students, faculty, staff and the larger campus community. We strive to develop an atmosphere of acceptance and wellbeing in which the campus community can support the academic mission of the university.
Your Giving Day Impact
Gifts made to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center fund will be used for direct services and programs we hold throughout the year. This includes but is not limited to PRIDE week, the QTBIPOC Healing & Leadership Summit, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Asexuality, Aromantic & Bisexuality Visibility Week, One Foot Out (a coming out support group) and other programs provided by the LGBT Resource Center. You can also make an impact with a gift to the Christien Rodriguez Memorial Endowment fund. This fund benefits students who are experiencing a financial crisis as a direct result of their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or work with the LGBTQIA+ community. Sadly, and all too commonly, parents find out that their child is LGBTQIA+ and reject them, take away financial support, and leave them to fend for themselves.
The Christien Rodriguez Memorial Endowment fund provides emergency resources to help in these types of situations, or situations where parents withdraw support due to their child’s advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community, as a stop-gap while students work to set up financial aid to continue their education. All proceeds will go to support students in good academic standing who are experiencing financial crisis due to these circumstances.
