Description automatically generatedIn response to the evolving landscape of engineering, a specialization in aerospace engineering was introduced in 1990, leading to the department's name change to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

In 1993, the Samueli School of Engineering implemented a new undergraduate major in Aerospace Engineering. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the field, the master's and doctoral degrees were redefined in 1994 to cover both Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Our undergraduate programs are designed to provide a well-rounded education, combining fundamental principles with hands-on design experiences. Students have the unique opportunity to engage in research within our faculty's cutting-edge laboratories. Meanwhile, our graduate programs have gained national and international recognition for their profound impact and scholarly achievements.

Your support for the Samueli School of Engineering is crucial in advancing our commitment to excellence in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering education. Your contributions empower us to uphold high standards, foster innovation, and prepare the next generation of engineers for success.
