Biomedical Engineering
Inspiring Engineering Minds to Advance Human Health

Founded in 2002, the Biomedical Engineering Department at UC Irvine is a diverse, fast-growing community of 30 faculty members, dozens of professional researchers, 150 graduate students, and over 550 undergraduates. Together with our dedicated and hard-working staff, who support our educational and research missions, we are tackling problems at the intersection of engineering, biology and medicine, with the goal of improving people’s health while driving the economic growth of our region, state and the nation.

Your past support has allowed our students to compete and win awards at national biomedical engineering design competitions, pursue their own biomedical startup companies, participate in research projects, present their results at professional meetings and conferences, and have access to world-class facilities.

This year, your gift will help enhance the educational experience of our students, so that they become more competent, creative, and socially responsible medical device designers, developers of novel therapies or diagnostic tests, or researchers at the forefront of battling cancer, heart disease, antibiotic resistance, or age-related degenerative diseases.
