Electrical Engineering & Computer Science

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) goal is to advance the minds of future leaders by providing the finest education to our students and consistently meet industry needs by developing cutting-edge technology. Our faculty believes that engineering plays an integral role in the modernization of society by leading the development of tools and devices that benefit humankind and improve quality of life.

Your past gifts have enabled us to support various hands-on engineering experiences for our students. One such example is the "Open Project Space" (OPS) initiative that is run by our local IEEE Student Branch.  OPS is a student-led embedded electronics course for beginners, in which students with no prior experience learn about circuits, microcontrollers, soldering, and PCB design while building a small embedded system. This is an invaluable experience for them and helps them greatly in their coursework and in their senior design.

Your Giving Day gift will help us upgrade our electronics and computer engineering teaching labs, which are used not only for classroom activities but also for our capstone senior design projects. Our labs are overdue for a refresh, the equipment currently used by our students is nearly 20 years old and not suitable for our upper division and graduate courses that focus on high-frequency devices. Our goal is to provide more hands-on experiences for our students across the entire curriculum, and improving the quality of our lab equipment and increasing accessibility for all of our students is essential to achieving that goal.
