Committed to addressing California's critical shortage of qualified math and science teachers, CalTeach recruits, supports, and prepares a diverse group of undergraduate STEM majors to become socially just, equity-focused credentialed educators. In just four years, students can earn their Bachelor's of Science in one of five undergraduate majors (mathematics, physics, chemistry, earth systems science, or biology) and their single-subject teaching credential. This unique, fast-tracked approach reduces both the time and financial burden typically associated with obtaining a STEM-focused teaching credential in California. UC Irvine CalTeach is one of just two CalTeach programs in California to offer this four-year pathway to students!
Your generosity plays a critical role in preparing the next generation of science and math teachers. By supporting CalTeach, you are helping to offset the costs of:
· UC Irvine tuition
· Teaching supplies for engaging lessons (averaging $100/student)
· Professional attire for classroom confidence (averaging $100/student)
· Transportation expenses to fieldwork sites for hands-on learning (averaging $300/student)
· Testing fees associated with teacher credentialing (averaging $500/student)
Your support extends beyond our students—it strengthens our entire community. With over 500 credentialed STEM teachers to date and a 91% retention rate in teaching, CalTeach is making a difference in classrooms for thousands of students throughout California and beyond!
