We Are All In for Preparing Our Students for the Future…
Support the Field Study Career Summit on Giving Day!
In the past five years alone, studies show ⅔ of college grads struggle to begin their careers after school.
The UC Irvine School of Social Ecology develops future leaders equipped with solid communication, critical thinking, analytical, technological, and interpersonal skills through experiential field study opportunities.
Since 1970, Field Study has been a requirement for students seeking a baccalaureate degree from Social Ecology and is an element of the school’s commitment to training future leaders. Through concurrent coursework and field placement, these prepare students to tackle the pressing issues confronting business and community leaders locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
This Fall we will host our Field Study Career Summit where current Social Ecology students and alums will have the opportunity to participate in a day-long summit focused on developing their professional career trajectory and ensure that our students are well-prepared to embark on their professional career path.
The Field Study Career Summit will provide School of Social Ecology students and alumni with access to workshops and panel discussions focused on five key areas:
- Making Yourself Marketable: Learn about essential interview skills to help navigate the job interview process effectively and successfully. Get help writing a resume and professional summary that will maximize your experience and skill set. Students will be able to get a professional headshot and assistance with building a compelling LinkedIn profile.
- Career and Internship Fair: Join our community partners at their booths and learn about internship and employment opportunities.
- Soft Skills Development: Soft skills are a set of personal attributes and abilities that allow individuals to effectively interact with others in a professional setting. At their core, these include the ability to collaborate effectively, manage time and communicate with clarity, among others. The ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and build strong relationships is the key to success. The Career Summit soft skills workshops will help participants develop their soft skills and become more confident in communication, teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Putting Your Degree to Use: Hear from recent grads and long-time alums on how they are putting their School of Social Ecology degree to practice and what knowledge they have found helpful in their career. Listen to Field Study site partners on opportunities they have for students and employment opportunities.
- Building Your Network: Put those soft skills to work and join us for our social hour! Students, alumni, field study partner sites and professionals from key companies will be in attendance.
Help us help our students become successful in their future career path and support the Field Study Career Summit with a gift to the Field Study Program on Giving Day!
