School of Physical Sciences

We hope our video on EarthRise Physical Sciences (above) got you curious about our School and the possibilities and solutions our students are preparing to confront.

The five themes of EarthRise are:

  1. Lift-Off – educating a diverse STEM workforce to power the future and prepare for careers in the physical and biological sciences, engineering, medicine, and more.

  2. Climate – predicting and adapting in a changing world.

  3. Health – creating solutions that support a healthy society.

  4. Energy – inventing and developing clean, abundant, and sustainable energy.

  5. Beyond – finding and understanding dark matter, dark energy, planets, and life in the universe.

These themes bring together the foundational education our students are receiving and the outcomes that are possible because of these areas. Every aspect of our research and teaching, in all our departments, enables us to address the societal challenges of our time.

Your gift today to the Physical Sciences’ EarthRise fund will drive student discovery and amplify and enhance the classroom experience. Students of all majors taking classes in any of our departments – chemistry, Earth system science, mathematics, and physics & astronomy – will benefit from the new opportunities made possible by you, through your Giving Day gift to the EarthRise Fund, Dean’s Excellence Fund, or one of our department funds (Chemistry, Earth System Science, Mathematics, and Physics and Astronomy).

We hope you join us in our mission to enable EarthRise and advance the education and research of our students.
