UCI Sorority & Fraternity Life (SFL), formerly known as the Office of Greek Life, works with students to create an inclusive environment that challenges members to develop into leaders who uphold the values, oaths, and commitments of their collegiate fraternal organization at UCI. Sorority & Fraternity Life values ongoing relationships with alumni, volunteers, campus administrators, and the surrounding community in order to create meaningful and purposeful undergraduate experiences that foster a commitment to service and lifetime membership.
With over 30 different sorority and fraternity active at UCI, SFL and its councils have emphasized the pillars of scholarship, leadership, friendship and service. These guiding principles and values, in collaboration with our mission statement, speak to what every SFL Anteater should adhere to and accomplish.
Since 1973, when Greek Life started with just three fraternities and three sororities, our community has grown over the last 40 years and become a home away from home for those interested in philanthropy, campus involvement and much more. Raising over $100,000 for various causes and completing over 3,000 hours of service, Sorority & Fraternity Life is working diligently to elevate involvement and student leadership.
Some signature events hosted by SFL include New Member Education which is held quarterly, Meet the Greeks which is hosted annually during Welcome Week, and our Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) program which is hosted in partnership with the CARE office and looks to educate active and new members on bystander intervention and strategies to support survivors. Students have described these programs as pivotal to helping shape their undergraduate experience alongside quarterly meetings with our office along with our biweekly President and Tri-Council Meetings.
Support SFL this Giving Day with a gift to the Student Services Fund. In doing so, you will support established office priorities and unique programming that looks to highlight student leadership and involvement. Programming that our office is looking to return to relevance is SongFest and President’s Retreat, which were held annually.
