Student Housing Affinity Group

UCI Student Housing’s Affinity Group creates community-based programs focused on supporting academic success and inclusive excellence through sponsorship of signature events.  These student-focused programs are intentionally created to instill a sense of belonging, support, connection, and community while celebrating who our UCI students are! 

We invite you to support UCI Student Housing's Affinity Group with a gift to the Student Services Fund. Your contributions toward reaching our monetary Giving Day goal of $5,000 will be instrumental in supporting our programmatic efforts in creating communities where all are welcomed, celebrated, and can thrive! 

No amount is too small and will bring us closer to our goal! Your contributions will directly benefit students and go toward the implementation of Affinity Group Programming.

Some of our successful signature events include:

Black Hair Care Wellness

For many of us, hair is a symbol of identity, resistance, creative expression, and freedom. The annual "Black Hair Care and Wellness" event brings together local hair stylists, barbers, braiders, UCI faculty, staff, students, and their families to offer free hair styling and cuts, food, raffle prizes, music, and organic hair products all while having fun and building a stronger sense of community! Each year, this collaborative program with the Center for Black Cultures Resources and Research engages, connects, and celebrates the rich tapestry of culture within the UCI community!

World Fest 

Working in tandem with the UCI Campus’ International Education Week the Affinity Group plans to host over 300 attendees for a lively, large-scale event celebrating the diverse UCI International community. We will host activities that engage, expose, educate, and celebrate the art of Japanese Origami craft-making, Indian Henna tattoos, the sampling of foods from over 5 countries as well as showcase live international/cultural performances and much, much more!

Spill the Tea: Grad Hour

The Affinity Group, in active collaboration with the LGBT Resource Center and the UCI Counseling Center, aims to create a campus community where LGBTQ+ people can thrive and connect! Together, we will host a monthly Spill the Tea: Grad hour program where we can come together to “Spill the Tea” on just about any topic!

This Giving Day 2024, we are confident that TOGETHER we can continue to work on achieving our mission of making UCI a campus where all students are welcomed and celebrated! #UCIAffinityGroups #TogetherForUCI!
