The Department of Chicano/Latino Studies is committed to providing students with unique opportunities to conduct independent and faculty-guided research. Such experiences are key for building research, writing, and critical thinking skills and establishing relationships with faculty. Many students draw on their research experiences to inform their career choices and pursue graduate school.
Our mission this Giving Day is to raise $2,500 to support 10 Chicano/Latino Studies students with up to $250 each to support their research endeavors. Let’s help launch them into their careers.
Chicano/Latino Studies majors complete a capstone research series to conduct primary research on a topic of importance to them and the Chicano/Latino community. Our faculty also work closely with students from across UCI’s campus, welcoming them onto our research teams and mentoring their independent research projects. Our students regularly win departmental, school, and campus-wide writing awards for papers written from these research projects.
UCI is a federally recognized Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), which means that 25% of our students identify as Latino and we are proud to train them for their bright future.
Your contribution this Giving Day will make sure nothing stops the aspirations of UCI’s incredible Chicano and Latino Studies students.
