We believe that small actions can lead to transformational change.
Through Small Change, Better World, the UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation supplies mini-grants to community-based student projects locally and across the world.
These student-led projects are designed to meet specific, tangible needs within communities. Funded projects have provided timely support addressing a range of needs including: backpacks and essential supplies for students in Santa Ana; urgently needed medication and diagnostic equipment for a mobile clinic in Tijuana; personal protective equipment for clinics serving the Navajo and Hopi Nations in the greater Los Angeles region; and sustainable irrigation for a women-run agriculture project in Brazil.
Every project not only makes a lasting impact in the community it serves, but also builds students’ leadership skills and provides an unmatched educational experience. Through taking action and partnering with local communities, the students are learning how to become active global citizens while the community impact is targeted where it is needed most.
Since 2018, Small Change, Better World has funded 39 student-led projects directly impacting more than 6,000 primary school students, patients and community members.
Your gift today to the Blum Center - Living Peace Fund will directly support a new round of Small Change, Better World projects.
Every $3,000 raised = one project
Our Giving Day goal is to support 5 new student projects this year.
Every gift counts! Whether you are in a position to give financially or help spread the word, we hope you will join us in supporting student success and community progress on #UCIGivingDay.
We hope that you and your loved ones are happy, healthy and safe. Thank you for your support!
